Applications are invited from Indian nationals belonging to reserved classifications (SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwD (VH, OH, HH)) under special recruitment drive for the post of Assistant Professor in the Departments of Aerospace Engineering, Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, job Cognitive Science, Computer Technology and Engineering, Design, Earth Sciences, Economic Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, Space, Planetary & Astronomical Sciences & Engineering (SPASE), Sustainable Energy Engineering, and Kotak School of Sustainability.

Several Departments also participate in the mentor and research study activities of interdisciplinary post-graduate programs in the institute in Photonics Science and Engineering and Materials Science Program. Appointments for these programs are made in the relevant departments among those listed above.

Minimum Qualification (Assistant Professor): Ph.D. with very first class or equivalent (in regards to grades, and so on) at the preceding degree in the suitable branch, with a great scholastic record in all preceding degrees. For a fresh Ph.D, the position will be on agreement basis for the very first three years, and can be regularized afterwards. For those with 3 or more years of post-PhD teaching/research/industrial experience, regular appointment can be made.

The Institute follows reservation in direct recruitment based on the provisions of the Central Educational Institutes (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Act, 2019. The existing unique drive advertisement is to fill up 56 stockpile jobs in reserved classifications till 31st December 2024.

Other info:

1. The pay brings all other allowances as admissible to a Central Civil servant stationed at Kanpur.

2. The benefits, such as LTC, medical re-imbursement, transport allowance, children education allowance, contribution towards New Pension System (NPS), job re-imbursement of telephone bills, book grants, HRA (if housing not provided), research initiation grant (as much as Rs 25 lakhs with the provision to request an extra grant) and financial support towards national and international conferences will be allowed as per the Institute norms.

3. From its internal resources, the Institute provides an additional top-up wage of Rs 25,000/- per month for the very first three years of service to the recently joined faculty members. After 3 years of service, job the faculty member(s) are eligible for consideration for Young Faculty Fellowship (open for professors of age upto 40 years) supplying a top-up wage of Rs.15,000/- each month for three years, and/or Faculty Chair positions supplying a top-up income of Rs 25,000/- per month for 3 years. Both the positions are offered based on efficiency.

4. Traveling allowance for joining: The Institute will reimburse international travel expenses for the freshly signed up with faculty member and dependent member of the family to the optimum limit of Rs. 1,50,000. Domestic travel reimbursement will be as per government rules.

5. The Institute makes every effort to provide real estate to all professor. Your houses are equipped with totally free high-speed internet.

6. Mere eligibility will not entitle a candidate for being required interview.

7. Applicants who do not fulfil the minimum experience requirements may be provided a visit on contract. The requirements of minimum certification and/or experience may be relaxed when it comes to prospects with outstanding qualifications.

8. The Institute follows the appointment in direct recruitment as per the provisions of the Central Educational Institutes (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Act, 2019. The prospects are needed to send the Caste/ Category/ Disabilities Certificate provided by the Competent Authority in the format recommended by the Government of India for this function. The Institute follows the Central list when it comes to SC/ST, OBC & PwD.

11. Applicants called for and appearing in interview will be paid to and fro economy air fare/train fare by the fastest route (within India) and taxi fare from Lucknow airport to IITK and back. Please keep in mind that the amount of fare will be remitted through electronic transfer by our Accounts Section after processing the claim. Local hospitality will be looked after by the Institute.

12. Applicants who are used in Government or Semi-Government Organizations will be needed to produce a “NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE” from their company at the time of the interview.
